"But seeing was never as simple as those words suggested. It was an art, and like all arts it demanded mastery, discipline, study. Pain. That too." -G.R.R.M

The Truth

It would be very easy to sugarcoat what we do here at the gym. It would be easy for us to lie to you and tell you that you won't get hurt, or that it won't impact your personal life. We could tell you that you will be great at BJJ if you just come for a few months. We could sell you a string of lies to get you in the door.  We could do that, but we won't.

The truth is, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will be the hardest thing you ever do. It WILL break you. Physically, mentally, emotionally. But it will also temper you. Make you hard. It will sharpen your resolve in everything you do. No longer will you be weak. You will become strong and motivated and driven. It is easy to be soft, comfortable and complacent. What kind of life is that? Honestly. We are born into this world screaming and squalling, and our whole lives we are conditioned to make things easier. Why? Because it feels good? This world is getting too soft.

"It's not who's good, it's who's left."

 Chris Haueter

We've been training at Acadia Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 6 days a week for 6 years and have barely scratched the surface of BJJ. Your promotions and growth are proven on the mats. It's your consistency, your attitude and your devotion to the art that will make you competent.

"If you think, you are late. If you are late, you use strength. If you use strength, you tire. If you tire, you die."

Saulo Ribero

It's time for a change, and maybe it will start with you. Change who you are. Change your friends. Challenge yourself. Make a difference. Learn how to fight. Learn how to live. Learn how to thrive. Become the humans we were meant to be. We are fighters, we are survivors, we are warriors. We weren't meant to sit and be lazy. We we're born to work hard and be challenged. If you can survive a year of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you can survive anything that life throws at you, and that is The Truth. Take it or leave it. If you aren't ready to change, you need not apply, but if you are ready to take the plunge, if you are desperate for a real challenge, we will always be here.
