No experience needed. Kids often start without prior sports. Our classes build confidence, coordination, and discipline at each child’s pace with patient instruction, positive reinforcement, and a safe environment. We focus on clear communication and reliable results.

We provide a uniform for trial classes. Please have your child wear clean underwear and comfortable athletic clothes underneath.

No. Children first learn basic movements and techniques, developing coordination and fundamentals. Sparring is introduced gradually and only when instructors determine the child is ready and it’s appropriate for their safety and skill level.

Adults FAQ

No prior experience is needed. The majority of our adult students begin with little to no background in martial arts or formal fitness training.

No. We welcome students of all ages and fitness levels. Training intensity is carefully scaled to each person’s experience and ability, making Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible to anyone who is willing to learn and grow.

Yes. Classes are taught in a controlled, structured environment with a strong emphasis on correct technique and student safety, ensuring every session is organized and focused. Sparring is always supervised by qualified instructors and is never required for participation

We provide a uniform for trial classes. Please arrive wearing clean underwear and comfortable, breathable athletic clothing underneath for hygiene and ease of movement.

Most beginners typically train 2–3 times per week, though your training frequency is flexible and can be adjusted to fit your schedule, fitness level, and personal goals.

No. Training helps you get in shape and build practical fitness. Classes are scaled to your experience and current fitness level so you progress safely and confidently.

Mats are cleaned and disinfected daily to maintain a safe training environment. Students are expected to maintain good personal hygiene, and shoes are not allowed on the mats at any time. Fingernails and toenails must be kept short and well-trimmed. We also use an antifungal foot cleaner before stepping on the mat to help reduce the spread of skin infections.

During the winter months, any weather-related cancellations will be communicated through the Zen Planner app and by email.

Yes. Cross-training is allowed and even encouraged. We ask that students communicate with our instructors, train respectfully, and represent Acadia Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu appropriately when visiting other gyms.

Injuries are rare when training properly. Safety, control, and supervision are emphasized in every class, and students train at an appropriate intensity.

Progress depends on the student. Belts are earned through regular training, improving skills, and understanding — not just time spent.

Yes. We offer both gi and no-gi classes. Students are encouraged to train both styles if possible.
